Complete system comprising battery energy storage system (BESS), electronics,
ventilation and air conditioning for innovative offshore wind farm. State-of-the-art technology and the highest quality for tough offshore conditions.

Statron and Freqcon are supplying a complete system for Crosswind, consisting of a total of 3 containers for battery energy storage system (BESS), electronics and a specially customised ventilation and and air conditioning system. The Statron BESS provides state-of-the-art technology for the innovative Crosswind Base Load Power Hub (BLPH). Harsh offshore conditions (wind, weather, salt, vibrations) required high quality and durability of the components used and are a challenge during transport, installation and operation of the BESS.

Components supplied:

  • 2 x 40 ft battery containers with a total energy content of 5.5 MWh
  • 1 x 20 ft container for power converter with 1 MW
  • Electronics and control system
  • Ventilation and air conditioning system

  1. Complete system for battery storage, electronics, ventilation, air conditioning
  2. State-of-the-art technology for new, innovative solutions
  3. Highest quality for harsh offshore conditions
  4. Air conditioning and ventilation specially adapted to the harsh environment
Project: Offshore wind farm
Location: North Sea

Crosswind, a joint venture between Shell and Eneco, is developing a large offshore wind farm 18.5 kilometres off the west coast of The Netherlands. The wind farm consists of 69 turbines of 11 MW each, for a total capacity of 759 MW. In addition to energy production, this innovative project introduces new, innovative technologies. In the Base Load Power Hub (BLPH), the energy produced is stored and fed into the grid when needed. A combination of hydrogen (long-term storage) and battery storage (BESS) will be used to store the energy.
